How much hair will I get?
- Straight doll hair Nylon, including braids and Saran, Length 36", 1oz/28g weight
- Curly and Crimped 36" length, 0.5oz/14g weight
- S-Curl, 18" length, 0.5oz weight
For most dolls you will cut this length in half for near floor length styles, or in 3-4 sections for shorter styles. 36" length is perfect for Rapunzel reroots, tall dolls and other specialty styles.
What size needles do I need?
Most fashion dolls size 5 needles. Small heads like Dawn and Mego size 7. For specialty styles including part lines and fine hair lines, size 7. For braids you will need size 3 for 1mm-1.5mm thickness. Size 1 for 2mm-3mm thickness.
Why is there handling time?
Doll hair starts on spools. We unwind the spools, cut, weigh and package the hair. Kits are assembled, needles are cut. All of these things take a little time. Our handling time is updated daily. Typically orders ship within 1-5 business days from when the order is placed. Business days are Monday-Friday. We do not ship on weekends and most holidays.
Why are needles breaking?
Most common reasons for needles breaking:
- Too much hair. As the plugs separate from the hank, wet and divide the plugs 2-3 times. A little hair goes a long way by the time you reroot hundreds of plugs.
- Hard heads. Some dolls, and colder time of the year, the vinyl/plastic is just kind of hard to punch the plug through. You can wrap in a heating pad to soften, or use a thumb tac to widen the hole. The holes will shrink back down with a little time.
- Hardened glue might still be inside the head. Make sure to scrape out all the factory glue and hair plugs. You can push in a thumb tac to test the area to make sure it's clean/clear.
