2025 Deluxe Fashionistas

2025 Deluxe Fashionistas

The first photos of the new deluxe fashionistas just dropped and they are lackluster at best. This is their answer to the mid price dolls now that Barbie Extra was unfortunately canceled. Personally, they don’t look very exciting and don’t make much sense with a $20 price tag. Regardless, Let’s take a look:

Doll

#1 gets points for having a cute purse that looks pretty unique. Nice face but I wonder about the hair texture. That could easily be polypropylene, the bane of every collector. It feels plastic-y and just really cheap. We don’t even carry polypropylene in our store because the quality is just yucky. Hopefully I’m wrong. The dressy gloves feel awkward with such a casual outfit. Feels forced.

Doll

#2 is definitely the most fun of the bunch. Maybe I’m a sucker for a gimmick, but the sparkly prosthetic leg is really fun. I feel like a choker would’ve completed the look. Cute as she may be, her outfit feels very 2010’s, especially with that tired shoe mold. Can we just have some regular heels please?

Doll

I will admit that I like #3’s outfit is the best, feels very modern yet classic Barbie at the same time. Even though I’m not much a fan of Millie, I do like the closed mouth mold. And I’m a sucker for a side glance! The sparkly leggings are unique and fun; but again with old shoes in a color we already have. Would’ve liked it much better if they were sparkly and/or silver. If I were to buy any of them, it would most likely be her.

Doll

#4’s outfit feels extremely dated, it’s giving early 2000’s vibes. Or maybe that’s in style again? I’ll be the first one to admit I don’t know a whole lot about current fashion. I do like her braids, though. We’ve had some similar tri color braids in our store in the past. I do like the detail given to ruffle on the pants, slightly helps validate the price tag.

I will give Mattel credit for doing articulation, but why not a made to move body? Made to move has become the standard and I feel like it would’ve created more value from the get go. With the Barbie deluxe looks dolls being only $5 more and have unique face molds and a made to move body. I really don’t see the need for these when we have the Looks dolls already. Mattel isn’t going to cancel them, are they?! Let’s hope not!

Deluxe Barbie Fashionistas will be released in January 2025.
