2024 has been a big year for Odile; the face mold designed by Angel Kent that collectors are just bonkers about. With a sweet smile and almond eyes, her face is a breath of fresh air compared to the overused and tired Millie face, the current face of Barbie. It has us collectors excited to see what might be the end of Millie’s reign.
Not one, but TWO Odile face dolls were released this past week. First was Pink Premier, a blonde in a glamorous pink dress. A few days later the Juan Gabriel tribute doll was unveiled, the first Hispanic Odile with warm skin and deep brown hair. Collectors are digging deep into their pockets to be able to obtain both.
And we mustn’t forget the Barbie Odile mermaids; the first Odile faces used in playline dolls in April 2024. The perfect Barbie Odile face sculpt, fair skin, purple haired version is in Walmarts everywhere while the tan pink haired version is more elusive; only available on a few online stores and at the official Mattel store. So far I’ve rerooted three of the purple Odile mermaid barbies, all three sold very quickly. If you want to sell a reroot quickly, use an Odile as a base doll. Every shade looks good on her!

Is Mattel going too hard with Odile? Will collectors get sick of her? Personally I don’t think so. It’s a welcome change to Millie’s toothy grin. Her sweet face is a bold move; being quite the stark contrast to competitor Integrity’s mostly RBF girls.
Many Barbie collectors struggle with feeling heard by Mattel. A new face has been a request for a while now. If they really are going to make Odile a norm, this can be seen as a huge win for collectors.
